In short

A cookie is a small text file a website saves in your browser so it can remember something, such as the fact that you are signed in.

Institify uses only the cookies it needs to work and to keep your account safe. We do not use advertising cookies, analytics cookies or any other tracking cookies, and we do not let other companies place them through our service.

1.Words we use

Cookie
A small file saved by your browser for a website, read back on later visits.
Strictly necessary
Needed for something you have asked for, such as signing in. The service cannot work without these, so we do not ask for consent to them.
Session cookie
Deleted when you close your browser.
Local storage
Space in your browser where a website can keep small settings. It works like a cookie but is not sent to our servers.

2.The cookies we use

All of these are set by us, on our own domain or on your centre's web address. They are all strictly necessary or remember a choice you made.

  • __ih

    What it is for
Keeps you signed in. Without it you would have to sign in on every page.
    How long it lasts
1 day, or 7 days if you choose to stay signed in
  • __csrf

    What it is for
Security. Proves that a change, such as saving a form, really came from you on our site and not from another website.
    How long it lasts
    Until you close your browser
  • __ih_branch

    What it is for
Remembers which branch you are working in, if your centre has more than one.
    How long it lasts
    1 year
  • sidebar_state

    What it is for
Remembers whether you closed the menu in the staff pages.
    How long it lasts
    1 year

These cookies are only set once you sign in, apart from __csrf, which may be set when a page first talks to our server.

3.Other things we keep in your browser

  • Your light or dark display choice in the staff pages, kept in local storage.
  • How you like to view the media library (grid or list), kept in local storage.
  • When staff sign in, the browser works out a code from its own settings (such as language, screen and graphics details) so we can tell if a sign-in comes from a new device. The code is scrambled before we store it, and it is used only for account security.

4.Cookies from other companies

We do not use analytics, advertising or social media tools that set cookies.

Cloudflare, which protects our network, may set a strictly necessary security cookie to tell people apart from automated traffic. Payment pages run by Stripe, SSLCommerz, bKash or EPS, and the spam check on centre website forms, may set their own cookies while you use them. Those companies' own policies explain those cookies.

A centre's own website, made with our website builder, follows this policy for the cookies we set. If a centre adds its own tools to its website, the centre is responsible for them.

5.How to control cookies

You can delete or block cookies in your browser's settings. If you block the cookies above, you will not be able to sign in or use the staff and student pages. The public pages of this website work without any cookies.

6.Changes

If we add a cookie, we will update this page first. If we ever want to use a cookie that is not strictly necessary, we will ask for your consent before setting it.
